Cricket Success for Alfie
Huge congratulations to Year 5 pupil Alfie D, who has been selected for the Wiltshire Cricket Club U10 team following a highly competitive selection process. Alfie had to battle against an impressive 134 other children for one of just 42 places in the squad, making his achievement all the more special!
When asked about his achievement, Alfie said: "I was really pleased to get in. I was part of the team last year so I thought I had a good chance".
Having previously represented the club, Alfie was delighted to secure his place once again, demonstrating his continued commitment, enthusiasm and developing talent for the sport. His selection is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work he puts into his cricket.
There is even more reason for the St Francis community to celebrate, as Alfie's older brother, Walter, who left St Francis last year, has also been successful in securing a place on the Wiltshire Cricket Club team. It is wonderful to see both brothers enjoying success in the sport and representing their county.
Kevan Brown, Director of Sport, said: "Alfie should be incredibly proud of this achievement. To be selected from such a large group of talented young cricketers is a fantastic accomplishment. It is wonderful to see his hard work, commitment and enthusiasm for the game being rewarded, and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop."
Head, Karen Austin, added: "We are always delighted to hear of our pupils' successes beyond the classroom, and this is a particularly special achievement. It is lovely to see both Alfie and Walter thriving in their cricket, and they are a real credit to their family and to the St Francis community. Huge congratulations to them both!"
We are incredibly proud of Alfie and Walter and look forward to following their progress with the Wiltshire Cricket Club.
Well done, boys – a fantastic achievement!
